Xie Moeyan is a Chinese writer and scholar. She won the Mao Dun Literature Prize for her 2003 novel Awake in the East. Xie’s father was Youlan Pu, a 20th century philosopher, and she grew up on various university campuses. Born in Shanghai, Moeyan graduated from Tsinghua University in 1977 and became a member of the PRC writer’s union in 1985.
